Beer Can Chicken and A Day At The Zoo

This past weekend we made beer can chicken. My dad gave Jeremy a fancy 'Poultry Pal' and this weekend was the trial run. It worked really well and we highly recommend this method of chicken cooking on the grill. Oh, by the way, this fits right into my current meat eating frenzy that has included a steak and burgers. I think I had convinced myself this baby was a boy, but the cravings are still there even though we know it's a girl. Jeremy is very proud of me and it is fun to enjoy meals together. I have made no promises as to whether it will continue post-baby.

Today we spent a wonderful January day, sunny and 60s, at the Oakland Zoo with some of our friends. This is Abigail being her cute little self. Maybe she is being a tiger?

She had a great time with her buddies and only threw a minor fit when leaving. It has been fun to see her interact with her friends lately. For half of the time four of her friends and her walked around holding hands. We still often have days when I wonder what side of the bed she woke up on and feel as though we are back to square one, but that's the joy of parenting a three year old! As one of my friends was commenting today, I have to remember to bottle these good days and remember them on the rough ones.

A Princess Tea Party

Abigail attended her first princess tea party today for one of her friend's (Zoe) birthday. She had a lot of fun and as you can see from the photos it was all girl. I might be called a bit of a princess scrooge and discourage princess paraphernalia whenever possible, but as you can see I have lost the battle on this one. The party was adorable and also taught them good table manners as they had to be really careful drinking their 'tea' (grape juice) out of real tea cups. Jenn even made a princess birthday cake!

They also got to watch part of Cinderella and play with all of Zoe's girly toys. It was a fun way to spend the morning and Abigail threw a royal fit when we had to leave.

Entering the Blogging World

Since my folks are headed back to Bangladesh I think it's about time to try another format for posting photos and keeping people more up to date. I have been really behind on my postings for the other site, so I will see if I can do any better on this one.

Here's a recent photo of Abigail and her Dora puzzle. I think we remake this puzzle 10 times a day. She really likes it!
