Puerto Rico

We just got back from a great week with Jeremy's family in Puerto Rico. Abigail had a blast playing with her cousins, swimming in the ocean and pool, and feeding the iguanas. We left on a red eye last Friday and sadly Abigail only slept two fitful hours since she was developing a cough. That next day we hit the beach in San Juan while we waited for Jeremy's folks to arrive. We picked them up and headed to the southern part of the island to Ponce. On Sunday we traveled to a smaller island that was a nature preserve and the guys snorkeled (too bad there weren't many fish) and the ladies hung out at the beach. Monday we toured the town of Ponce and then headed to the resort for the rest of the trip. The resort was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. Abigail's favorite part of the trip was the water slide that headed into the pool. Jeremy and her did that for hours. On Wednesday some of the folks headed off to the rain forest, we toured old San Juan (and the school Jeremy's folks met at) on Thursday and Friday the guys tried another place for snorkeling that was a little better. It was a fun time to be with family and hang out in the sun. We are ready to head back next year! I got several comments from folks who were concerned I was going to be giving birth beside the pool, but no one from the airlines mentioned a thing. We are thankful for a safe trip and now I only have eight weeks to go!

Novato, Crafts, and BBQ

Here are some random happenings from our past week or so....

We visited my grandparents and Aunt Linda last Thursday. Abigail was a ham for most of the day and kept us entertained by her various antics. We walked down to see the horses, visited the dog park, and had Subway for lunch, all of which were hits with Abigail. Here is a cute picture from the day.
The next day we went over to a friends house and did an Armor of God craft. Abigail did most of the coloring and I helped with some of it. She didn't quite grasp the concept and was a little stressed out that we were covering her body tracing with the armor but ended up being very proud to show it to daddy that night.
Aunt Gail came to visit on Saturday and Jeremy took the opportunity to make what is titled a Bacon Explosion. You roll up some cooked bacon in Italian sausage, which is then covered with a weave of bacon and BBQ sauce. The whole thing is slow cooked on the grill for three hours. I am almost sorry to admit that I ate some and actually like it. Here's a photo of Gail and the bacon goodness.

The New Room

Here's Abigail's new room. She transitioned well into her real big girl bed, instead of just a mattress on the floor, and likes her tropical theme. My folks might remember the bed frame and dresser, both of which Jeremy retouched. My mom might also notice the cover up that Abigail is holding and yes she made both Jeremy and I demonstrate how it's used. She thought it was funny. The crib is all set up in the baby's room, who is yet to be named.

In other news, I had my 28 week checkup today and everything seems fine. I was glad that I had only gained three pounds this time, instead of the ten that I gained last month, and Abigail did great as usual at the doctor's office. We met Jeremy for lunch and tried to stay dry during our errands. Us spoiled Californians don't know what to do with all of the rain we have been getting :)

Abigail and I also had our first real conversation together on the way to the doctor about what being homeless is like. I am not sure what she really understood but it was a good reminder to me that she doesn't miss anything. She had noticed the man standing at the street corner with a sign and promptly asked about him. I always have to be on my toes around this girl!
